task seven questionnaire and results

In conclusion my results shows that out of the 20 people I asked 12 were female and 8 were male therefore my music magazine will be more aimed at girls than boys but my magazine will be more unisex.

In conclusion my results show that I have asked a wide range of different aged people, therefore my I decided to categorises my results to less than twenty were there were four people, then I did the 20 to 30`s were there were six people, then there was the 30 to 40 were there was four people then finally there was the 40 + were there was four people in that age range therefore my results may not effect the target audience of my magazine as there are many people in the same age categories yet there is more four with four people in each one.

My results show what people think off when they seen the word pop there was a mixture of answers, the most popular answer was “girly”, which suggests that people think pop music or pop magazines are mainly for girls, people also said that “charts” relates to pop music or the pop genre because pop music is in the charts, using these results it can help me eliminate mistakes which may occur when making my magazine so that i get the codes and conventions right also that my magazine doesn’t just look like a pop magazine but has some of the above elements involved so the buyer knows that it is pop punk not just pop.

in conclusion this bar diagrams shows that three words people associate with punk. The main outcome which many people chosen was “loud”. Therefore people associate punk music being loud, and therefore this must contribute to the naming of my magazine along with the pop words. Many people said that the union jack (6 people), therefore i shall have the union jack on my front cover along tartan and gig pictures as this is what the audience associate with punk music.

task two research into existing music magazines
The final magazine i decided to conduct research on was Rocksound. Rocksound is published monthly at the price of £3.80,Rocksounds average number of pages is 120. This issues main features are interviews with eight bands which is the same in other issues of this magazine,the regular features are as follows; reviews, edit letter, lives, exposure,the noise, and rsvp. the type of music magazine i am going to do is Pop Punk,and my target audience is going to be anyone interested in this genre of music and i am also going to have an age range as well of 16-20 year old but this may change because of my detailed audience research which i will conduct at a later date.

codes and conventions
1.the title is usually one word or one letter, it is positioned at the top left of the page and full page width, unique font, biggest text on the cover.
2. Bar code on the bottom of front cover. 3. One main image- a band or singer, usually it is a medium close up, conveys attitude, direct address.
4. Main cover line, anchors the meaning of the image and it is the largest on the page.
5. Cover line- main cover line-two lines. Otherwise two or three lines or as few words as possible.
6. Typography-consistent only a few fonts used. Two types of typography serif- hook eg times new roman or sans serif- without hook eg Arial. Connotation of font reflects target audience and subject, frame main image, and left side of the cover.
